In other news, the H5 arrived too :)
Jon, shall I alert the burn ward at the hospital in your area? :hide: :hide: :hide:
Not really worth it because of the covid lockdown 😳

Yay! It's Christmas all over again.
Thanks for an actual sensible response 😁

@rubber_jonnie Treasure the moment!
I'm still compiling the list of components for H4 #2 and the H5.... but as usual life is getting in the way of hobbies.
:sigh:
Will be good to hear how you get on with the test kit and the H5!
:coffee:

I still have my 2nd H4 to build as well :sigh:
Also getting distracted by the whole house move and the sudden redundancies of 500 people at work announced today!
Not me BTW but worrying nonetheless.
Just concentrating on fixing stuff ATM and not building new, as I am hoping to have a better workshop soon.

Oh the insanity.....
I have a portable Dolch LPAC 486 machine I'm currently dropping a sound card into.
Off I go and get the drivers, and plug in my USB floppy drive. No Drive A:
OK, lets try another port on my laptop. I have drive A:, so lets format the floppy disk. Format completes, then drive A: disappears and will not come back. How am I going to copy the files now?
In the end I copied the files to my Atari network share, fired up my MSTE which has a 1.44MB floppy drive, copied them from the P: drive on the MSTE (Thanks CosmosEx :) ) onto A:
It really is getting harder to get stuff onto floppy unless you have an old PC now, so if you really need floppies, find an old laptop now that still has an FDD, or even a desktop for that matter!
And before anybody asks, no the 486 doesn't have a working network adapter. YET.

My PC is pretty must the last in line before the floppy port was removed. I do have a older dualcore in the loft somewhere still.. but hard for me to upgrade.. plus I don't wanna go win10 either..
Reminds me I need to send you my gotec at some point, see if that works for you, probably will like the pak020
*one day* I want to have a go at that LAN thing on the ST as well.. I was talking to @Icky about it a while ago. but always so many projects and no time.. . I'm not doing a new motherboard this year, so hopefully I can do some other stuff now.

@exxos By the LAN thing do you mean with the CosmosEx? It's bloody useful to do, I have it set up permanently on my MSTE and wouldn't be without it, even with the ability to use my SD card under Windows, its way more convenient.
I've also been talking to someone about trying out Sting for Internet access, just don't have time ATM as trying to get hardware repairs done.
Feel free to send me anything to test. Did you mean Gotek or CosmosEx? I'm sure it'll work for me like the PAK did 😁

Well, back in the day (80's & 90's), I couldn't afford a phone line, so never got on line to experience the fun of BBSes.
I decided this weekend would be a good chance to see what I missed out on back then, so have connected to and joined both ST Guild and Darkforce.
There is something really quite charming about these BBSes, and I'm considering setting up my own once I'm settled in, using one of my 4MB Megas and a Lantronix UDS 10 or equivalent.
It is going to be at least 3 months until I'm in my new house, but I can at least have a play with the software in the meantime.
Now, off to play a spot of DDST, where did I put my sword!
