Just adding a memory here. I had a AUI card for an Archie once and i the generic AUI to RJ45 didnt work. I dug deep into it and found it had some kind of custom Acorn detect going on. I forget the exact details and hopefully you wont hit this. But just incase you do so you dont end up frustrated.
The AKA 25 I have for my A5000 does work with AUI, but in order to do so you have to swap a set of jumpers on the card to tell it to use the AUI output rather than the coax. Not the friendliest card I ever met, especially since it doesn't have a ROM. What I did have to do was make sure the SQE test switch was on for the AUI to RJ45 adapter. Apparently the only time it has to be turned off is when connected to a repeater, and mine isn't.terriblefire wrote: 30 Dec 2023 00:12Just adding a memory here. I presume that's just a straight coax to RJ45 converter? Hopefully it'll work just fine. If not you may be able to find a cheap hub or switch with a coax port on it.
Please do let me know how you get on with it.
Thank you, no rush from my point of view.
BTW I had some Mac LS's back in the day and there are RJ45 based NICs available, might be worth a look round eBay.PhilC wrote: 29 Dec 2023 20:36 @rubber_jonnie what did you use to interface the coax to RJ45? I’ve got an old Mac LC network card with a coax connection and wanted to see if I could get it to work.
