I did bid in the last few seconds, the last 3 as it happened, but my bid wasn't enough, and the usernames for the bids were rather suspect.
I may just order a Gold Card from SellMyRetro, they're around the £100 mark. For what that card went for you could have got a new SGC from SMR too.
