Not really a update..but., as I need to spend a lot if time figuring out the byteswap stuff ( time I don't have currently ) I am thinking of producing the fixed v1 design
https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/forum/viewt ... =73&t=1640 as kits that people can build up themselves as before. Its a tried and tested design now so I think its a bit of a shame not to get some more of them out there in the wild.

It works well enough for me so it gets my vote.
Will there be a firmware update with byte swapping available in the future for this board?

Trudie only has the buffers to do the byte swap. I just don't have time to work on Trudie, which is why I think pushing out some v1 boards will have to do for this year.

Thanks for confirming. Will make a good low cost IDE board for your store.

Thought I would throw this "out there".. Can someone find how to read the CF cards model/brand and capacity.. I can only really suspect its in some register in the CF card somewhere. I've been looking for hours :( There doesn't seem to be any proper info out there which explains actually how to do it

I've seen a few references to CIS or Card Information Structure and it appears to have something to do with that.
I've had a look at a few datasheets which list addresses for certain things but must confess I haven't a clue, I can post a link or two to the pdfs if that helps?

After doing a bit of reading in that document above, I think I realise what is going wrong now. It is what I suspected before that I need to add the data lines to the PLD. The current Trudie does not have them, but Icky did these changes some weeks ago to the PCB. So I'll get a few of these made up so I can do the new firmware etc The annoying thing is it delays this project again

I'm also working on a smaller version more intended for the H4. I am also thinking is there really any need to add a slave IDE port ? CF cards can easily exceed the partition account and size, and the only thing I could think people would want a second port is for something like a CD-ROM. So currently I am designing the new board with only one port as I think just is not needed to have 2.
