Checked all the clocks? just looking for some indication of non functional electronics.. What is it drawing for current. With no floppy and just a functioning main board it drew approx. 1.05 amps.
It's HALTed. GLUE produces syncs so clocks are good.

(I need to buy a USB-RS232 cable .. )

Initially my board would run for 400 ms and halt. I ended up fixing it by changing the glue. A week later I tried that glue in another 1040 and it worked fine. I don't know what conclusion one can draw from this other than the sockets suck.
