Geek talk as my wife calls it bores her, no need to put the whole theatre to sleep.

Ya, know what ya mean... wife really has absolute "0" interest in electronics.. Forty years ago I used to dragger around electronic junk yards and she pretended to be interested just to set the hook.. :) :) :) Now she doesn't need to show any interest.. except when wireless quits, tiro crashes, or the apple tv chokes..

Ok, so all my large CF cards and the Fujitsu 6.4GB laptop drive have been re-partitioned using the full version of HDDRIVER, and I've left the crappy tester running against the 6.4GB laptop drive this morning. Will post results later.
Will also test the 4 and 16GB CF cards, plus also have an IDE2SD adapter on my desk for testing later. Will also post results later :)
PS
3 guesses who this sticker came from?

Yeah I'm still working on that. Skull and cross hammers or something similar maybe.
You tried your cards yet Phil ?
Right, so all 3 cards are now recognised by the IDE. All 3 format but 1 refuses to boot after all the drivers etc have been installed. Instead I get 3 bombs.
If the two that work, 1 is just below 4gb as expected but the other is indicating just over? Bit unusual but will work that out later.
The one that gives the 3 bombs I will try formatting properly later to see if it's a track error or something daft causing the problem.
And just for clarity, I've used an X28 diode as I'd ran out of 1418s but still seems to work ok with the 1k pullups.

This may or may not help, but I was re-partitioning my 4GB CF card last night having bought HDDRIVER (I had been using the demo), and after finishing that, on reboot, I got 4 or 5 bombs when starting up in TOS 2.06.
I dropped back to 1.04 and booted from floppy, the drive then came up OK when the driver auto loaded from the floppy. At is point all I'd done is partitioned, so I then installed the driver under TOS 1.04, powered off, switched back to 2.06 and it booted absolutely fine from the CF card. I was then able to add the additional drives to the desktop and save the config and it runs fine.
May be worth you seeing if you can get any mileage configuring under 1.04, then switching up to 2.06.
Incidentally, I am not formatting the drives at all, just partitioning.

It might be a bad sector. I had a card refuse to autoboot. I did a full format on PC, then it worked fine after.

Also had to do the same on one of mine too.

That's what I was thinking, so will try that later on.
So far so good with the IDE test program.

Mine was looking OK when I left 1st thing, will grab pics later tonight.
Interestingly, the 35GB REV drive I have can be ejected using the HDDRIVER software, though I have not yet successfully partitioned it. I will see what I can do to bring it to life. I had intended to be using a ZIP drive, but got beat at the last moment in the auction, oddly the IDE versions seem to go for quite a bit of money, whereas I only spent £20 on the REV including a 35GB cartridge. Maybe it will work yet!

I left the IDE tester running all day on the Fujitsu 6.4GB laptopo drive (I set it off before going to work, not suggesting it took all day :) ), and all was fine:

I've started running the test now on my 16GB card:

So more results later.
Tried to test the IDE2SD adapter I have, but don't seem to be getting power to it, so something off there, since it woks using my USB2IDE adapter. More tinkering required.
