Spent the past two days soldering 100 DB19s onto the last batch of ATARI FALCON 030 3 IN 1 MONITOR ADAPTER and about two days of ultrasonic cleaning them all afterwards.



I don't plan on making any more of them after that batch has sold. I don't have a unlimited amount of DB19's left either. Not even sure that the current batch will ever fully sell going by the low number of sales over the past few years. But I guess part of the problem is that there are only so many Falcon owners out there in the first place. Even less who are interested in extended resolutions etc as well.

Good grief! How many Falcons can there be still out there then?

No idea, wasn't there only like 2,000 made or something ?

Thats not alot, especially considering (I recon) half of those were used for 'soldering practice' by noobs, or have died of old age and are probably long gone. (?)

I dont suppose anyone keeps a record of these things?

I know there is one for specific motorbikes left on the road. Probably less likely theres one for Ataris.

I think @mikro was collecting Falcon serial numbers at one point, so he might be able to give a more realistic account..

As for the active users, that's a whole different question. Definitely in hundreds and that includes people who just switch the machine on once a year. The real active users...no more than 100 I think.

I purchased another flexible arm thingy a couple weeks ago. The original arm has my digital microscope on it. Then because I don't have any more "desk space" , I thought if I got a second arm I could hack job my scope onto it because generally it ends up on the floor..



Not a great solution, but still an improvement as to what I was doing before...


I suppose really I could do with selling my large PCB oven at some point to free up some space, because I don't really plan on using it again.. Problem is , who would want a enormous oven, and it was not exactly cheap either. :roll:

Mines on a dual monitor arm. It's great for moving the scope to exactly where you need it. Without it taking up desk space.
