Started to look at my monitor cable due to the flashing on the screen as well as looking at the YM2149 output waveforms
Solved the audio - it was the cable bad solder joint (this is why it has been intermittent and confusing us)
Flashing am still getting this but not as music (you will see one such flash just before the scoreboard comes up).
Still need to test with another monitor.
Sound is good and is not quiet.

Just one observation - I don't suppose the fact the monitor is displaying a 4:3 image in widescreen is causing the random flickering? Can you try putting the monitor/tv in 4:3 rather than 16:9?

I had the same thought. Did try that and did not make a difference.
I really need to try it on another monitor. My dilemma is that my workspace is not the most tidy of places - although I have a few monitors in there they are plugged into so many other things. Desk space or any surface space is a premium and to move stuff is a nightmare.
Exactly - I just tried moving stuff around to make space but ended up losing space and stacking more.
BUT - I did get to plug the board into another monitor and go some interesting results. The screen is stable no flashes but as you can see from the picture its very faint.
Just cracked open the scart end and its not the prettiest of things. Comparing it to the diagram you had on your thread https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/forum/viewt ... 204#p10068 its very simplistic. Apart from the 150 ohms on the RGB everything else is connected directly.
Am currently in the process of sorting out the cable.

 - I tested an original STFM on that monitor and it was fine. STF is very white, you can only just make out desktop.
You are using a CRT correct? All mine are LCD.
