It wouldn't be that causing fast contact point corrosion/resistance issues would it? :shrug:

While it could happen.. Those sockets are new. I think the sockets and most of the simms are tin plated. But I do keep wiping them with IPA just to be sure. But the problem is to consistent with what's going on to be bad contacts I think anyway. Plus I suspect bad contacts wouldn't explain why freezer spray on the combo IC makes matters worse. It's a borderline timing issue with the RAM, at least for the most part I think anyway.

If anyone wants a prototype board, then happy to give them away for free if anyone does a order, I can just pop one in box. I have about 9 PCBs with birdseed. The alignment is a bit off on the RGB transistors, but it's not so bad anyway. Boards are still useable. You just mostly need header pins and the DAC IC itself. There's no install guide, but I can post a couple images of what to remove on the STE anyway.

I'd be interested in one...just waiting to see if we get our bonus this month or not...then I'll know what I can afford to order! :)

Yeah, but there are always plenty more goodies that I want to buy when funds permit ;)

Been doing bits in the background to a new cased ST2VGA adapter. This one replaces the jumper links on the top for a quality slide switch.

The downside is the switches I ended up using make the case a bit thicker than it really should have been :( It also means the VGA connector ends up "recessed" in a bit, but oh well. JLC have limited switches which I like, and with all the chaos in ordering in stuff.. big nope. Plus I don't really like a lot of switches. I did look around, but in the end I just gave up and settle with the ones which are currently used.

One new feature is they no longer need the 12V from the ST. So it makes them compatible with early STM machines which do not have the 12V feed on the RGB port.


I *might* have to make the case 1mm larger overall, as some bits internally end up a bit thin. But as its internal stuff, its not seen anyway. I've got 3 cases on order from JLC made with 3 different materials to see which one looks the best. I will post images in a couple weeks time when they arrive.

NOTE: These cases will NOT fit the current ST2VGA adapters sold in the store. This case will only fit the V7 series of adapter.

I don't know when they will make it into the store. The PCBs are done and I just need to build some up. I don't plan to make many of these new cased versions, they will end up rather expensive. I was thinking of buying a new 3D printer to print the cases. I can print them currently, but as the case slots together, any slight warping ends up looking a mess on the joints. Hence why I am looking at JLC to make the cases.

Very nice finish and the "fit" isn't too bad.



PA12 GRAY
Finish sort of looks like a cross between cardboard a stone. The fit is good. But oddly the colours seem to vary across the print.


3201PA-F
Looks a very sharp print, but the fit isn't great. But looks like odd banding across the print as well.


I think the best one is the white one. Though having a "slotted" case might not be reliable. Though I guess it could be glued. Or I could try increasing the wall by 0.1mm to make it a tighter fit next time.
