I saw your recent WD1772 testing work and your comment that you have larger quantities of NOS WD1772 00-02 and 02-02 chips available, with bulk pricing possible around 50 pieces.

I’m primarily interested in the WD1772 00-02 parts for reliable stock-speed 8 MHz use—not 16 MHz Atari operation. Could you please provide your best pricing for quantities of 10, 25, 50, and 100?

Before placing a larger order, I would like to purchase 3–5 samples taken from the same bulk lot for hardware qualification. Could you also confirm:

Whether the bulk 00-02 chips are the same provenance as the new 8 MHz chips in your store

Whether they are NOS or pulls

Whether they have already been verified at 8 MHz

Available quantity and date-code mix

Shipping cost/options to the United States

If qualification goes well, I may be interested in repeat orders or arranging a larger reserved allocation.

I'm not pricing anything until you've sampled some and you're happy with them, there's no point me wasting my time on numbers otherwise. The deal would be on 50 pcs, or maybe 25 packs to start, I wouldn't sell larger than that as you're basically an unknown person at this point. So other than singles, I'd maybe start with a 25 pack first. I've been screwed over too many times to take the risk sending high value orders to basically strangers, I hope you understand.

Yes, they're all from the same lot, I have no other stock, single sales or bulk. If you want to sample first, grab 3-5 as singles from the store.

Whether they are NOS or pulls

They are all NOS.

Whether they have already been verified at 8 MHz

Ones in the store are all tested. The 100s I have in tubes have not been tested, but I've never had any issues from the supplier with bad chips. I can't guarantee anything without them being tested though. If you want me to test them all, costs will be a lot higher as it's not a quick job.

Available quantity and date-code mix

As mentioned on the wiki are date codes. Likely around 100 per date code.

Shipping cost/options to the United States

Costs are calculated in the store at checkout.

I'm curious what's the reason you specifically want 00-02, and not 02-02 parts. Is it because you are going to use them with FM (single density) disks?

If so, I commented in other Atari forum that the claim that the WD1772-02-02 doesn't support FM, doesn't make much sense to me. Atari used that part (as all other WD1772 variants) in the 8-bit drive XF-551 that was used both with MFM (DD) and FM (SD) disks. I can't say I tested this personally though.

Thanks for clarifying. The individual price is reasonable for end users, but purchasing three to five retail samples without an indicative bulk price doesn’t fit my resale model. I’ll hold off for now, but I would still be interested if you publish 25- or 50-piece pricing in the future. Thanks for your time.

Bulk pricing comment withdrawn

Back in my July post further up this thread I mentioned doing bulk deals in packs of 50 or so for a better price than the store. That line's been sitting there for over a month and I'd genuinely forgotten it was still up, in my defence my memory's clearly still running at 8MHz these days.

Since then the stock's been restructured into 16MHz burst rated and 8MHz tested. Details here: viewtopic.php?p=145004#p145004

The 8MHz tested chips are already priced down from where they were back in July, some of them below what I actually paid for the stock, so there's no room left in there for a bulk discount on top of that. Consider it withdrawn.
