just to let you know, @tOriman printed its own PLCC-Plug, this means it is doable and perhaps the price would be lower.

Btw, does this problem viewtopic.php?p=114064 also occur with ST536?

So nothing can ever be simple can it..

My current PCB company who I actually like, my project manager informed me she has left the company  I think she was one of the few Chinese people who actually understood what I was talking about. I really don't want to start messing about with someone new again.. For like the 20th time over.

So I thought I would try and get JLC to make 5 up. Though they don't stock off the parts.

But another problem is looking at the PLD alone..

Then to mouser...

It is likely JLC of shipping charges upping the price.. Fair enough.. But then that means they are charging shipping on EVERY chip, which is wrong. So I will have to contact them and see what they are messing about.. Because I'm not going to pay £50 a pop for PLDs!

There are also problems with several other parts that they don't even stock any more, or at LCSC. So it is probably going to take me fair chunk of this week in trying to sort out all these part problems now

Either that or battle it out with a new rep at my current PCB house.. Though there are assembly prices are basically x10 higher than JLC because they don't suck. So price wise between the 2 companies.. Dunno. Always everything just has to be maximum effort all the time :(

Why does there have to be 25 different versions of the same part

Different speeds, different mounting and pin options different voltage combinations?

God knows, I just went to Mouser and used a better parametric search. Found myself a nice OSC, better than the ones I used before. Just they are 6pin not 4 pin  so I will have to edit the PCB and hope there is a 6P package.

Finally got the new BOM done. Several parts are out of stock on JLC. I've got them on order but be a couple weeks to get parts. No idea how much the PLDs will end up. It's a case of paying for stuff and JLC will figure it all out later kinda thing  So I hope the PLD price will be cheaper. I've also changed a few parts here and there.

I'm only getting 5 made now. Things are just starting to cost way to much these days :( So likely 3 boards will be in the store at some point. These have all SMT parts assembled both sides of the PCB.

I guess it's all just going to be a few weeks waiting game now.

I'm hoping the ST536 firmware will work without messing about. I had a ST536 running in my STE some time ago.. So fingers crossed.

So as expected with JLC parts sourcing  Not so simple to build boards up fully when parts are missing. Kinda defeats the object of assembly. So now I have almost £300 of parts in limbo.

I think this is the last project I am doing assembly on. It's always way too much effort to do even simple things these days.

EDIT:

Well Mouser *did* have stock yesterday, someone's bought all the stock it seems

Got a reply back from JLC about the PLD prices etc.
Hello Chris,

Thank you for getting back to us.

For the price, since parts from global sourcing is like exporting to China, there will be some purchase restrictions from the supplier side including price, MOQ, buyer identity, etc. So there is a premium. Kindly note the price on our website is set based on numerous data analysis and has been the best we can offer.

We really appreciate your support and understanding!

Best regards,

Mavis
So £50 a pop a PLD is what it's going to be then :(

Looks a blinder.

Next time I have enough pesos in one place, I think this'll be quite high up my wish list. :)
