This is the slower ROM version.

SLOW_ROM.zip

main_top_C_ON.jed Is the one on the website and this one works perfectly well also. Oddly I don't have a 55ns ROM on this board, its one of the Hitachi ones. Which I think are 120ns.

But I would try this firmware as it does not have the IDE AutoBoot enabled I think.

If that firmware works then you need to do the resistor mods on the bottom of the board. If it does not work then I really don't know it must be some problem with bad connections or something.

Incidentally the current board does not appear to have the bus resistors changed. So YMMV. but it gets to desktop just fine.

EDIT:

Was just looking at the code in relation to IDE autoboot.. I am not sure if I fixed the firmware to work correctly with MONO monitors.. would be useful if maybe @PhilC Could try that out ? I thought it would only working colour but it looks like the code was later patched.. It does not look like my usual coding chaos so maybe anders or BW helped me fix that up and I forgot all about it..

@exxos mono mode works just fine here.

oh cool.Learn something new everyday  :D

So likely isn't anything to do with the firmware or the resistor mods.

You guys are unfortunately back to something iffy on your machine which is not working correctly

I just tried without the floppy drive connected and it booted to desktop just fine as well. Though it was booting off IDE.. Without IDE and floppy, it hangs on the ST536 logo. Doesn't seem to get to RAM test. I guess ordinarily TOS206 would throw up a few bombs where this does not seem to happen on ST536 TOS.

But CRC errors are indeed ROM.. I know you said it worked fine on the H5 @PhilC . But still kinda smells like a bad PLCC socket connection. If you have a DUALTOS board then there is a ROM_CE output next to the ROM, where you can drive a external ROM board instead.

Thanks for all the info, I've got a 55ns ROM, I'll try flashing the slow firmware and see if that fixes it. I might have to get an H5 board and build that instead...

Why couldn't Atari build these things properly from factory? :P

20 bombs with slow ROM firmware @exxos

I might have to invest in a Phoenix board... I've got some new ROMs coming today I can play with but that's about it.

Just to confirm you have removed the old ROM from the motherboard ?

Old ROMs are removed from motherboard, just the PLCC one in. @exxos

Plus you have got the ROM jumper link in the correct place ? IE BANK0 or BANK1 ?

Bank 1 for the FAST TOS 1.62/2.06 ROM, so 2.06 selected.

Tried putting a jumper on CDIS ?
