The booster has just been delivered.
It is a very nice piece of hardware you made here.
And what was my surprise when I realized the Winslow W9305 socket fits perfectly in the header holes... :D

However, I will have to check if the pin length allows the booster to sit under the RF shield.
For information, here are the available pin length variations for those who want to go the socket way instead of the pin header solution:
W9305 - 11.7mm
W9305-ZC168 - 6.8mm
W9305-ZC185 - 8.3mm
W9305-ZC187 - 9.6mm
W9305-ZC189 - 15.5mm
The socket I have is the W9305 with a 11.7 mm pin length (I plan to keep this one for my PAK683/3 project) and I will try to get my hands on the W9305-ZC168, which has a 6.8 mm pin length.
I have 4 days off soon to check everything.

You don't really need the plug.. There will be plastic printed squares for the middle eventually.. So its basically the same as a Winslow plug, of course it will fit fine without the plastic square..

Sure, you idea of inserting the header pins inside the CPU socket (instead of inserting them behind the CPU socket pins) is clever.
I just wonder if the Winslow way is not more reliable though.
Yeah, maybe if you had the dummy plastic CPU...

Ok, had a reply today from Warwick concerning my order of the Winslow W3905-ZC168 socket adapter.
They need 1 month to get it produced (since there is no stock) and you have to buy 50 of them... :shock:
I will try the Winslow I have and if the height is too much for the RF shield, I will go with Exxos' solution.

I don't know why all the Winslow adapters in stock for all sizes are skyscraper high. It would make more sense to stock the shorter versions as it would only be very rare that you'd need that much clearance.

Right, so as expected the Winslow adapter does not meet the clearance.
There is quite room without the PLCC socket on top of the booster PCB, and a SMD socket or a directly soldered CPU would be fine.
I will go with Exxos' solution then, i.e. header pins.

Prob a daft question but should each header pin not have connection to the next or are there grounds next to each other. I fear not. Time to resolder I fear
