Got it Laden and Speichern. I'll pop it into google translate later.
"AN" - ON
"AUS" - OFF
"LADEN" - Load IMG, GIF or GFB files
"SPEICHERN" - Save GFB file
"SICHREN" - Save configuration
I would suggest you to use GFB files due to it is a native Deskpic file format and they are loaded much faster.
Load "LADEN" GIF and save "SPEICHERN" as GFB

Thank you for all your help! :) What would be your recommendation for converting jpg to GFB files? I have Paint Shop Pro 9, XnView, and Photoshop CS2.

I understand now. Hadn't read your message accurately. All I have to do now is stop it duplicating a portrait image across the whole screen and instead centre it and I'm sorted!

Have you any idea how to stop it tiling the image. I can't get an image in the centre. It's driving me nuts!

Thanks. You're welcome.
Getting there. Created 460x400 canvas and then added my image as a second layer

Have you tried using ImageMagick (convert)?
