I'll take a look but they do seem a little expensive (And I have other things on my list...)

Yeah, seems pretty decent, and boxed too. Got an offer on it after putting it on my watch list and it was too tempting.

Only a little progress today on the Enterprise stuff.

I started upon the floppy disk interface.

The problem I had was that I don't have any edge connectors which are quite wide enough to suit the interface on the machine, only 30 pins wide. They also have blanked ends which extend too far anyway. So it was out with the razor saw.

I cut the ends off two connectors and then cut one down to five pins. Then it was a case of filing them down until when joined together the pins were the correct 2.54mm apart. Once this was done I slid them onto a PCB to keep them aligned and then used an old soldering iron to weld them together.

That seems to have done the job and I was then able to solder the connector onto the board.


I checked that it fits on the machine's PCB edge correctly and all the signals come through correctly.

The rest of the components I need should arrive tomorrow. I can then film the build and tests for a video.

Built and videoed the building of the floppy interface this afternoon.


I'm still awaiting the 22V10 GALs and 74LS240s from Mouser, which were originally slated to arrive today but have been delayed until Monday.

Somehow I got straight 34 pin header sockets. I most definitely selected the filter for right-angled ones in the RS web interface. Oh well. It just meant some "fun" fitting R5, R8 and R6 as the designer had left zero room around them and they were too close to the socket connections. Got them in though.

You may have noticed a hack for the power. No need for the high amperage buck regulator components on the board as I'm not going to be powering anything from the board and I'm not going to be installing the expansion header, so the 1 amp Traco will be ample to power everything. No need for the second 74LS240 as I'll only be using a single Gotek with the machine and not four drives. I also have the EXDOS ROM in the cartridge, so no need for that socket or the jumpers to configure the addressing either.

I've ordered the PCBs for the floppy interface and a ram upgrade that uses an AS6C4008-55PCNand a 16V8B which I have in stock here already.

So ive got a bit of catching up to do @stephen_usher but I shall get there in the end.

The 22V10 GALs and 74LS240s don't arrive until tomorrow, but I do have 16V8 GALs and 74LS06s so....

The only issue I had was that I forgot that the gates on the "right" side of the 04/06 have the inputs and outputs reversed relative to the "left" side. For a while I thought that I had a faulty 1772.

Anyway, it's working so that's confirmed the rest of the PCB is operational and I can look into getting floppy images with games on them onto the Gotek and seeing if they work.
