Different firmware approach with TF4060 can get a Rev4 to 93Mhz. Same chip wont do 78 on the TF1260.

I know what the issue is... time...

Actually, you can simply swap it for another 10ns CPLD. It's part of the "silicon lottery"... I'd say about 95% of 10ns CPLDs have no issues running at 75 Mhz, but every once in a while you find the odd one out that won't do it. I built about 70 of these cards, I've seen it before.

This is notwithstanding what Steve says - this is just the behaviour with the current fw.

Agreed its not the CPU thats the limit here. Maybe some Rev1's wont make it to 75Mhz but most should. Like i say let me get the new firmware sorted out.

I have a Rev5 060 on a TF1260 running at 75mhz stable. I've added heat sinks to both CPLD's and a half size heatsink to the CPU (so it doesn't foul and hit the keyboard). I have a 12v laptop cooling fan laying on the 1200 motherboard blowing air directly at the TF1260. The laptop fan needs to be connected to 12v so it can move enough air. It is a noisy fan. If I connect it to a 5v source, its quiet, but doesn't move enough air and the card will crash at 75mhz after 5 to 10 to 15 minutes. But move enough air, and it runs 75mhz solid.

Thanks, yeah - got heat sinks on everything and a fan ;) I think the difference is you are using an R5. These are all R4. I have an R5 coming though - assuming it's genuine.

Just got my TF1260 with Rev 4 CPU running and I've got to say I'm absolutely delighted. Thank you Steven, supaduper and all else involved. :D

I'm going to need to make a small mod to my (kickstarter) case so everything fits properly and then sort out cooling. Might try using the cut outs that I made for the USB ports from my now dead RapidRoad to move air in or out.

i have a Rev6 in mine, at 50mhz, it feels cold, not tepid, or mildly warm, i mean no heat at all, like there is no power through it, cold.

at 75mhz, the top corner of the CPU gets " slightly warm", but the rest of it feels like a cup of tea i made 20 minutes ago, and forgot to drink it, know what i mean?

The other 75Mhz LC arrived! This one does actually run at 75Mhz for about a minute lol. So, and at that point I feel the temperature and its very cold, so it's not a heat issue. Just to rule out my 1200 board, I took it to pieces and checked the two caps for the timing fix - my board still had them. Removed them both, behaves exactly the same. So I don't think the timing fix made any difference for me.

I will wait for future firmware changes to see if that allows any faster. What I do find strange is that others can run at 75Mhz - just yesterday a guy on my Discord used the same processor I had (from the same seller) - a batch of unsual part number 060's used in telecom equipment and his runs stable at 75Mhz, provided he cools it. I wonder if the builders are using faster CPLDs than the one I went with perhaps?

I have 10C speed rated CLPDs in both Ram and Bus and can run 80Mhz with full Rev 6 on a Rev 2B 1200.
From memory I have just removed those 2 resistors for timing fixes (done before I had TF1260).
1200 has been recapped along with heavy 4.5amp PSU.
