Last time I got stuck in front of the computer while cooking the fire alarm went off, alarm company rang, and I had to explain that no I'm not going to be needing a fire truck today :)

To be fair, your signature does say "If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction." so it's perfectly in character :)

:D

I haven't quite managed that but got close a few times. Definitely more than a few 'charcoal offerings' have appeared.

So here is what I found!

I stopped juggling the two short cards (ET4000AX <-> ATI Mach32) and dug out the Diamond Hercules W32i. Shoved that in... and...

It's not crashing anymore. I did all the same stuff - same tests - and so far it is still running without a single LineF panic.

So I upped the stakes by swapping to the 48MHz clock - and it worked too. And it is still working....

Huh.

Of course, I'll try again after writing this and it will crash instantly! but it is certainly not behaving as badly as before. Much more stable.

....and after all that - and what looked like a success - fortune decides otherwise!

I think this Hercules is on its last legs. :p

You can has crashes or you can has many dots! Ok thanks between the two, I'll go for the dots...

These are the problem candidates. The bottom two provide the LineF option. The top one, many dots. Especially if you put your hand near the ram chips.

Ok, Maybe I'll blame the MFP oscillator that failed instead.
