I guess these ports are remainders of the Acorn BBC, but I have no idea what their exact purpose is.
I wanted MIDI ports, and the Morley MIDI podule is the only expansion allowing to fit an Ethernet podule at a good height (the AKA12 has bigger MIDI connectors, and the Ethernet podule would sit too high).
Cool. I'm sure you'll make a very neat job of it based on your previous work :)

The analogue port is an 8 bit, dual channel A-to-D port.
The "User Port" is an 8 bit GPIO port.

It's been a long time since my last post, but my work kept me quite busy (and my soldering iron went fubar)...
Since I have some days off now, I guess I will be able to finish my A3000 as soon as the replacement part for my soldering iron arrives (should be tomorrow :crossed1: )... I could have bought a brand new cheapo rework station, but why spend more when you can just replace the defective part.
Anyway, stay tuned for more news.

So, I received the replacement part for my soldering iron at the end of the afternoon yesterday and I was not feeling like starting my mods at 5:00 pm...
The soldering station is at least now back on its feet and ready to assist me in my never-ending projects. :D
As I couldn't do anything for weeks, I wanted to start first with all the podules connections which were left unfinished:

This one went OK, but the other one had to ruin my day when a pin broke:

And of course, I didn't have any spares in my parts box and had to order some.
Now I have to wait, and meanwhile desolder the connector with its broken pin. :x
Nevertheless, I had another mod in my head whilst the soldering iron was still hot.
I have decided to give my Aleph One a little surgery.
Before:

and after:

A socket is fitted under the oscillator and changing the ARM clock is now easy.
Once the podules are finished for good, I will try a 66Mhz crystal.
Everything fits nicely under the limited space under the keyboard, and works without any glitches at 30Mhz.
:D
More to come soon.

I finally received the missing part today, and could almost finish the 3 in 1 podule mod:

Looks better with the pins going upward and the cable tie as a strain relief for the 3 wires...

The IDE podule will be fitted horizontally.

And here's what it will look like with the CF card installed.
Since the IDE podule collides with the plastic pole, I have to shorten the IDE podule pins and file this plastic pole a bit such it holds the IDE podule.

My 3-in-1 podule is finally done:

Next step is to cut off the metal plate for the RJ45 connector and drill a hole for the LED.
