Does the Model B have composite video output?

It works pretty well.

Or you can push the boat out slightly and use an RGB to scart lead (about 12 quid) with one of these -> https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/223978641085 ... Sw8zJe1jN7

Or just go the whole hog and get an rpi RGB to HDMI.

I use all 3 of the above for my collection of retro machines.

Yes, the Beeb has a BNC connector at the rear with mono (by default) video out.

@rubber_jonnie Excellent news! Rifa delayed smoke generators are "fun". I never replace like for like, I use the newer plastic X2 capacitors now.

As @stephen_usher mentioned, there is a composite out and I'm actually getting a 15.625Khz signal on the Fisher-Price oscilloscope. It was good for something then!!

My problem right now is that because we're in temporary accommodation right now, we have 1 TV which will do composite, so it's just a bit of a faff getting time on the TV. Once we're moved in I'll have all my usual display options so it won't be a problem then. I may get a scart lead though.

I had bought a kit anyway, which included new Rifas, so they were to hand. I'm sure they'll last a decent time, maybe even another 40 years :)

I just hooked up the new kbd PCB to No2 as it is populated with IC's, just no keys, and I get a BooBip, which is promising.

I just checked, and the CPU in there was the replacement I'd dropped in early on in the process, so I switched it with the original CPU, and no BooBip, so it looks like the CPU was dead as well.

Thank god for sockets.

I don't doubt there is going to be more to this tale, as the machine was in quite a beat up state, but I'll get it hooked up to a TV over the weekend as I have a BNC/Composite cable connected to my TV ready and waiting. Might try at lunchtime :)

I'll fully test Beeb No3 whilst I'm at it.

Lol, no worries.

Managed to fit in a quick video test whilst the wife is out.

Beeb No3 has a super crisp output, but No2 isn't showing anything on screen. So, as per my original assertion, there may be other issues to fix.

However, I do know that I can blind type and get results with the cassette motor and its LED, And I do get some 15Khz signals on the BNC connector, however sometimes I notice that I don't get them right away.

The positives are that I now know the composite input on the TV is good, and that No3 works just fine.

Might have to see if I can get it to work with a UHF cable.

What happens if you change to a non-teletext mode, e.g. Mode 1?

If the Teletext chip has blown then you would get no display in Mode 7 (default) but would in the other modes.
