Odd about the bombs. I had them early on but never since flashing the latest firmware. I'm pretty sure it's had a decent work out as well - 1-2 hours most days

My STE is stock, 2.06, 001 DMA. I ended up using an official raspi power supply but for no reason other than it was handy.

The classic problem of like "one crash every couple of hours" type problems. like I said earlier, this is all why the mandatory fixes was born because of issues like that and this board has none of those done yet. I think bombs has to be databus corruption or something along those lines rather than simple hard drive corruption type operations. I would assume anyway..

I downloaded it from here http://www.atarimania.com/utility-atari ... 28184.html All in German which is not ideal.

The drive light flashed incredibly quick, then just seems to have got stuck :roll:


As I am not familiar with this program I don't know what that equates to. The mouse still moves but there is no drive activity any more.

EDIT: Now I see its in the software section :roll:

Anyway, the defrag completed successfully.


So I started deleting files again and got the bombs :roll:


I think what I will do is connect up ultrasatan with the same SD card and see if the problem still happens or not next.

Yep Ultrasatan bombed out as well. So I will have to hunt out a fixed motherboard and try again, where I may not have one anymore as the pullups were mostly fitted on the booster which I can't use currently. But anyway, I haven't yet seen any write problems in my tests today anyway which was the main problem before.

Hmm, dunno. I've got the English version and it works absolutely fantastic.

I do turn verification off though - it considerably slows down transfer times.

Trying this next. Its kinda gone onto diagnosing DMA issues on the STE again now :roll:

Anyway, The booster board isn't doing much other than providing the bus pullups for the CPU bus etc. So see if this makes any odds to the bombing out issues.

This is probably nothing but I notice you've got your SD card in the second slot. I'm using both simultaneously without problems but have you tried it in the first?

I think I somehow killed the first slot, it stopped working which is why I moved to the second slot. But can't remember now if that was the production one or my test board I killed now. I can try it again on Monday.

I've filled up the SD card , well my 200MB partition anyway. It about half way though deleting all the files now. Problem is, random faults are very time consuming to diagnose as there isn't a easy quick way to make it fail.

I'll continue this stuff In another thread as it's not really relevant to the pico drive stuff anymore.
