Somehow, I seem to have done a @rubber_jonnie or maybe even a @PhilC and ended up with yet another computer...bought in the hope that most likely it could be fixed if possible or used as a donor if not.
Oops 😁

Oops indeed! The trick will be to refrain from continuing the buying spree & instead focus any available time on finishing off at least some of the projects already underway. :D

So, having failed to heed my own advice(!) I now have yet another two 520 STFMs - both working (even including the double sided floppy drives) & both sporting TOS 1.04.
Not yet had chance to get beyond a quick power-up & run of Sysinfo but I hope to check what boards are within over the next day or two.

Both cases look to be in good condition too, so overall happy with the end result of my latest impulse buy.

Now is definitely the time to stop bidding on any standard STF/M auctions (and probably STE as well)...

Too many...well over 30 STF/Ms in total
Definitely time to refurb a few and find new homes for them!

(Starts to 'unwatch' all the STs...but not the TTs/Falcons/MSTEs - there are limits! ;))

Well, inspired by the videos linked to by @alexh viewtopic.php?p=96524#p96524 I was motivated enough to find the replacement exxos PSU I bought for my Falcon a few years back & actually fit it!

Well, it's now booting up to the desktop OK & the floppy drive appears to be working OK...so now I just need to find a CF card (or SD2IDE adaptor + SD card) to fit in place of the original internal hard drive and get some s/w installed to bring it back to a workable state for daily use.

I still can't find the Falcon to ST video adaptor I bought with the machine back in the early 90s but do have the VGA one at least.

I did however just find the Emagic Log3 + Unitor II dongles plus discs for Logic Audio, so all is not lost!

:D

Well done. I have not turned on my Falcon030 since I read that the standard PSUs were killing them. I have a CT60e which uses a different PSU which I have been planning to fit for a long time but never made the time to do it.

Exxos sells an RGB/VGA adapter with integrated blow-up. But when you factor in the PSU + adapter cable it is £££. Get hunting.

What I imagine users really want is an Falcon030 RGB->SCART cable? I've never seen one. You can buy RGB->ST cables but then you need ST->SCART cable too.

Yes, ever since reading that I've left my Falcon on the shelf too! Te fact they are still going for more now than when I bought it new back in the 90s makes it not worth taking any chances!

I bought a Blow up 030 back in the day as well...and that is probably with the missing adaptor cable too
:sigh:

My usual display with a SCART decided to die a year or so back, so I'm currently without a SCART-equipped monitor (or even TV)...maybe I have a DVD player with SCART in & HDMI out or something....hmm. Even more things to search for....
