After our head of department suggested that our "leaving do" would be him giving a speech at the normal morning coffee with the addition of a few, cheap cup cakes, to celebrate our combined 56 years of service, my colleague basically politely told him where he can stuff his cup cakes.

I must admit that it did feel like rubbing salt into the wounds.

About 10 years ago, under different management, our workshop manager retired after about the same amount of time as I've been working for the department. He got an after hours party with a bespoke cake decorated to represent what he had done, a really not too bad present and free drinks and nibbles. How times have changed.

@stephen_usher I think telling them where to stick the cup cakes would have been small change to what I'd have said to them after all those years of work.

Typical of the crap that people try to get away with these days, really disgusting behaviour, let alone the redundancies in the first place.

I have to say I stand with @PhilC on this one.

My thoughts on this wouldn't be suitable for public consumption.
:cussing:
Suffice to say their suggestion falls very far short of the mark.

On the model railway front, I've completed the next project, banking on the "fast lines" passing the station area.

Designed, printed and fitted wedges spanning two track, rising the outermost tracks by half a millimetre each 2cm wide wedge, but with multiple wedges at the same level to reduce the gradient.

Now the trains tilt as they go around the curve. :-)

Only about 2/3rds the length of a real one though.

Oh I know, I've seen some of the oil tanker trains whilst working at Rolls Royce and other places. And the car transporters on the side of the M6.

Nice trains. Reminds me of a work social years ago when we went here: https://pendonmuseum.com/ which was very impressive.
