They were in the early 90s as they were sold for 486 CPUs amongst others. (PGA extraction tool)

I bought mine on Ebay a few years ago, but I think you might find some on Amibay.

The postman has been busy today. Family thinks it's loads of Christmas presents :lol:
We have a PGA extraction tool. A new '030, a ps/2 mouse adapter and an Aries 169 pin ZIF socket. And a free gift from the exxos store :)

I'm hoping I can dismantle the 169 pin ZIF socket and create the correct pin layout, then I will never break another 68030. I'll attempt that later today.

The socket which was given to me didn't need any modifications.. I use one to test 030 CPUs in a DFB1X :)

That's a nice gift.

I couldn't wait.....

Lift the upper layer up, carefully to not snap the tangs. It popped up a little and I was able to recover the tangs one at a time.
I tipped it over and all the pins fell out. Then I reinserted them hopefully in the correct pattern, remembering its a mirror image if you're looking at a real CPU

Put the lever and the spring back in.
Put the lid back on and carefully put the tangs in. And we have an '030 specific ZIF socket. :lol: Now back to work!!!
