I can't recall, does the Plus have an HDD or is it all FDD?

All the compact Macs before the SE had only a floppy internally. The Mac 512Ke was the first to have SCSI I think, though that may have been the Plus.

From what I remember the original Mac could be connected to a hard drive over the floppy interface using the same interface as the Apple III.

I've done some googling and you can fit something like a bluescsi internally but you need a PCB to mount on top of the scsi chip to get the signals internally.

I may just make up an external Blue SCSI somehow for now.

Hardest bit will be making a boot disk for it

I’d forgotten I’d got a SCSI2SD board, do have just soldered a DB25 on it and got it directly coupled to the Mac. Just need to find an OSX 7.# image to put on the SDcard.

So, no Iomega ZIP100 SCSI drives available then? That's the best way to boot these beasts, especially if you have an IDE ZIP drive as well which you can use to write the pre-built images available on-line.

You won't get System 7 running on a Mac Plus, too little RAM. Go for System 6.0.8.

Unfortunately no Zip drives here any more. Supposedly 7.5.5 was supposed to work but I’ve got an image for 6.0.8, just need to try and get it to work now. First try still shows the floppy ? So will have a look again after dinner.

System 7 works if you upgrade the RAM to 2MB or more but won't run on a stock machine.

It’s got 4mb installed so I think it’s just getting it to work on the Mac

And it took me this long to remember that the floppy emu I got for my Apple //e will also work as a floppy on the Macintosh.
