Need to see if the PSU is doing its thang, yep it is, lets see where power etc is going, because I have no power LED ATM.

Not so fast!!
PSU has the correct ish voltages but testing several 74LS chips there is no power, so some TLS required.

I've not tested yet, but there are a lot of ceramic caps and a few tantalums that look really sorry for themselves, so it's a definite possibility.

The voltage regulator is a old school diode for on voltage and a ic and maybe a 7912 or something like that also people often plug the power cord into the video or cassette port and cause damage

That's fantastic, thank you. I had downloaded the service manual which says a lot of it, but the website is considerably clearer :)

Yeah, it's a worry that the PSU has been plugged into the wrong spot, not sure whose bright idea it was to make all the sockets the same pinout!
