I may try switching over to nginx at some point today. So everyone can expect total carnage...

We will be going down on Friday(Probably around midday) for a full disk backup and to install 39 pending updates :hide:

As usual, the forum and all my domains will be down for about an hour.

Just a reminder we will be going down around midday tomorrow (friday) for a disk backup, for about an hour.

I don't think there is any other server updates I need to fix or tweak now. So i'm backing up the whole disk while it all works  :hide:

Server will be going offline later tonight for a full disk backup. Everything will be down for 30-60mins.

EDIT:
Done!

The server will be going down every Friday for a full disk backup. I've set it up as a automated task but unfortunately (as far as I can tell) I have no control over what time it backs up .. I am hoping it backs up at midnight, I have asked ram node about this though...

EDIT:

They replied and said the end user cannot set it up but they can.. So I requested 2am UK time every friday. There is basically nobody around that hour in particular on a Friday when it is quiet anyway. So the entire server (**) will be off-line for approximately one hour between 2am-3am Fridays from now on.

(**) This is exxoshost, exxosforum, atari-wiki, webstore, emails, all my websites, everything! The server will automatically reboot when the backup is done anyway.

Also in case anyone is wondering, backups are done hourly anyway. This includes the entire SQL database and HTML folders. Which pretty much covers everything. The reason the server goes down is because I am literally backing up the whole diskand the server cannot be running while the disk is being imaged...

I get it, in case of disaster you can minimize the effort to restore everything by restoring the disk image and then the latest SQL + html backup on top of it.

Yep. The disk backup is more for when a update screws up the OS.
