I will try this now as well.
I ran the same extract process that had previously hung every time four times with no MUFASTROM and it was fine. I then re-enabled it and it was still fine, so I'm still stumped.

It's the fact that this bug is so intermittent that makes it so difficult to narrow down.

Gent's, I'm not using any WB or WHDLoad pre-configured images, just a barebones WB3.1 install, and I get the occasional/intermittent system lock up. It does appear to be only when writing.

I've had it when installing MagicWB and Professional Page. Again, both on a clean WB3.1 install.

I was finally able to reproduce this issue. I left the A500 archiving and unarchiving large archives constantly and after several hours I finally got it to lock up, but it seems very infrequent generally. After a soft reset the machine goes back to normal. No idea what causes this. Definitely not CPU related. Maybe emulated Gayle issue? I am going to try the same on the 330.

EDIT: updated thread title to specify it only occurs during disk write access.

I've been testing with my unzip test and from locking up 100% of the time initially it has only done it once in the maybe 15 times I tried since. The only time it hung I had previously been playing some WHDload games but I couldn't reproduce it.

I wonder if different MaxTransfer values may help...

We are probably all using 0x1FE00 , maybe we should try 0xFE00 for example... ?

I tried zipping my whole game library now to test and it did indeed hang after a few minutes. Mouse cursor does not respond and the caps lock light locks on after I turn it on and off several times.

It hasn't happened in normal use, though I don't do anything harddisk intense on it.

This has nothing to do with maxtransfer (also when using PFS the maxtransfer is irrelevant anyway). I can confirm this does NOT occur on the TF330 but it does happen on all 536 firmware revisions, so the only person who should be able to shed some light on this would be @terriblefire.

https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/forum/downl ... p?id=12059 and tested again with the same results. The Amiga locks up every time so far when compressing the WHDLoad "A" directory to a zip so that seems like a more reliable way for me to reproduce the issue. If there is another early firmware version around that I should try then let me know.
Are you absolutely sure the max transfer size is set correctly?

I am positive - I use the exact same setup/CF card on both the 536 and 330 (I can even use the exact same CPU on both), the 536 will lock up, while the 330 won't. Could it be related to Gayle emulation? (it does take a few hours of archiving/unarchiving or simply lots of disk writing for it to happen)
