Must be the address pins. with those data pins shorted/missing nothing would boot.

I think you are right about a bad connection as I've been over the solder joints and now 3 of the stuck bits have disappeared when using the atari cart.

Ok, tip for today.... never try to show off, even if it's just to yourself and solder SOJ20 chips with a soldering iron, when you should do it with hot air...... That is all :)

I am extremely proud to announce the return of my STF to the land of the living.

It'll now happily boot to desktop, although when I try anything diskwise it comes up with 11 bombs.....

Still, one step in the right direction and have learned so very much whilst trying to get it to come back to life.

I think the problems have all been related to sockets, yes that dreaded S word that we all hate so much. Having now removed the 4mb MMU ram expansion and using a falcon board has really helped, so I would recommend to use a falcon board as an easier and less troublesome option whilst using the Alpha Board.

Means my 4mb can now go back into one of my Megas where it belongs :)

Anyone any ideas now for 11 bombs Line 1111 emulation?

P.s. thanks to you all for your help and encouragement.

:bravo:

I would suggest you run YAART for a couple hours and make sure things are stable...

I never seen a row of bombs on DMA access before.. might be worth cleaning the ROM and GLUE contacts...

Will give that a try with some IPA and see if I can get the floppy to work.

Just need to get Yaart onto a floppy as well.

Excellent. Tip here is that it only detected 128K of ram (4 blocks of 32K) So it seemed to have been looping over the same ram over and over.

Glad DiagROM was able to help

Not sure if you saw, my post on fixing my floppy issue with board #1. It was a faulty YM2149 chip. When I replaced it, the floppy was recognised and worked fine.

Hi Kodak, yes I did see it. Mine is slightly different. It detects the floppy no problem but if a disk is in the drive I get 2, 3, 8 or 11 bombs on start-up. And putting the disk in at the desktop died 8 or 11 bombs. I think mine is likely a bad socket or two.

Thanks for the suggestion though.
