Here's a new problem if anyone has any ideas..

I cannot get the food heater temperature reported. It just constantly reads -15 and does not seem to be like it is plugged in. The heater and temperature is reported correctly on the bed. I have swapped the extruder sensor to the bed one third the sense is working correctly.

So I'm not sure if this will be disabled somewhere in the Marlin firmware ? :shrug:

I think I see the problem, the thermistors in the Marlin firmware or three digit and mine is reporting four digits :roll: I guess I will have to create a new profile again :roll:

This sh*t takes ages :pullhair:

It keeps shutting down thinking over temperature and thermal runaway because it has not got a calibrated sensor. So I had to hack software :roll:

Now my temperature should be accurate to 270c.

The next problem seems to be the z-axis seems to not have enough current as the motor is stuttering badly. But if I take out the motor and place it in the X-axis, motor runs fine. All the axis seem to use 800mA so no idea what is going on there :( I have swapped the driver boards about as well :roll:

Does the z axis move smoothly by hand? Not too tight?

It is hard to turn, but the X-axis driver can drive it anyway.

I can drive the X-motor with the Z-driver.. Though I think this is a current issue as I can easily "stall" the motors. But I have played around with stall settings and all sorts and nothing seems to be making any difference :shrug:

There is even a preset on the driver board which IIRC can manually set the current, but turning it either way makes no odds either.

EDIT:

Swapped Z-motor to X-driver and works fine (cannot stall it by hand at all). I'm thinking that the Z-channel is faulty now :roll:

I pretty much wired as X,Y,Z,E

I did not configure the ports that is just what they default it to.

ahhh

Provides two stepper outputs, connected in parallel, to the Z driver allowing for a parallel, dual Z axis drive.

FFS now I have unplugged the extruder motor Z-axis now works :roll:

So I cannot have E where I had it, I have to use the next port, but then the extruder does not work.. Something must be misconfigured in the firmware somewhere relating to this :roll:

I was contemplating getting a 3d printer until I read this thread :lol: :lol: Seriously, is it really this finicky or have you dropped unlucky?
