It's a bit of a stab in the dark, but you might want to look into some of the oven drying methods and see if it affects your print quality. Basically you just pick a correct temperature for your material (look into this, I think it's something like 80°C for PLA?) and leave it in the oven for a few hours. It's worked well for me on old filament that absorbed too much moisture.

Yeah this could may well be part of the problem. But currently I'm trying to work out why the gap is there to start with.

Oddly this doesn't seem to have a Z-seam, but bulges on the corners.

It looks like you could take a look into the retraction and retraction prime settings, distance and speed. If you retract too much "distance" then the printer takes a little longer to start and you can see gaps. If you don't retract enough or have too much distance in the "prime" value, you can overextrude material leading to bulges.

Retraction occurs when direction changes occur with seems to align with the issue you're seeing here.

This setting is found under the "Travel" options in Cura (if that is the software you're using).

I have already been playing around with those settings a few posts back. The blobbing on the corners might be relating to me changing the Z-speeds just. I need to figure out what I changed which caused this new problem :roll:

I think the blobby corners started to happen when I changed the X-axis belt clamp :roll: The one I stole off the old i3 was bending and did not really fit the printer properly. So I designed a new one..

Only now seeing that this one is also bending and the belt is slipping on the top left where it should be clamped firmly :roll: So I guess I need to rethink this idea now :pullhair:


EDIT:

Thing my problem was using this black stuff as it seems to be delaminating for starters :roll: Plus I only used 20% infill as well, which probably isn't helping matters. So I have Made the outer dimensions slightly larger and gone to 100% infill with the original grey filament. Hopefully it will be strong enough this time.

Soooooo new X-axis blet coupler thing printed and fitted. Now I have something which actually resembles a square! :excited: :excited:
