So, was there any logic to driving on the wrong side of the road? I spent a lot of time in Canberra AU diving on the wrong side of the road and still haven't fully recovered from that experience. I adapted to the wrong side easily but coming back to the right side of the road was another story.
I don't know of any logic that suggests either side is better than the other, so I just drive down the middle.
Actually, if you look at
a chart, there are perhaps more left side driving countries (75) than you might expect, a list unsurprisingly dominated by the former British empire. But right side driving does still dominate (165).
Sorry for short thread diversion. :)

Apology accepted :)
I'm feeling sorry for myself after my 2nd vaccination, so reading and replying on here is about the extent of my activities this afternoon.

The AstraZeneca vaccine sounds like a ball buster Jon. Looks to me like Pfizer has the best vaccine of the lot.
I read your beep page... sounds like an advanced machine for the time. I don't believe many made it to this side of the pond.

The AZ jab can be, but my parents had it with zero ill effects, so it really depends on the individual. Pfizer was not offered in my area, but my in-laws just over an hour away in a different medical area had Pfizer, also with no ill effects.
I have seen a few Beebs make it across the pond to YouTubers, but back in the day, they weren't like Atari or CBM and I don't believe were really exported.

An Apricot is just an Apple that drives on the wrong side of the road.

The story goes that before Napoleon, everyone rode on the left side of the road. This meant that you passed other riders with your sword arm towards them, giving you a defensive position.
Napoleon was left handed and wanted an advantage over any potential rivals and hence in France (and the other places he conquered) he changed the code to being riding on the right, meaning that his sword arm was towards the traffic. The USA, being anti-British and Francophile at the time adopted this convention.
That's how I heard it anyway.

There was a US version of the BBC Micro, but it was quite heavily modified. It's not only the power supply and video circuitry but also masses of heavy steel shielding. I'm not sure, but I think BASIC was changed to suit US spelling too.

Interesting, I'd not really heard that. Given the amount of shielding in the US designed machines of the period, I'm not surprised they had to add it for export. I recall being surprised when I first opened up one of my Atari's to see all the shielding when my Sinclairs had none.

You'll have more "new" Beebs than components to fix the old one soon.
