Hate it when a tool goes fubar...
Me too, especially since it's one I am really reliant on.

Hmm, so there was another similar resistor too:

Same value as well. Stupid resistors.
I also found a cap with a loose leg...
Smokin'!

It certainly had been!!

And to add to the story of the workbench magnifier light, parts came today, but it didn't fix it, so I checked the two main caps just to see what was what.
Turned out the cap that I found with a loose leg, was no longer 10uF:

So I've ordered some caps, but if that doesn't work, then I need to consider retiring it, though I could get some sort of LED light as a replacement and do it that way.

Yeah, seems like it's lost its capacitance a bit. :-)
I have loads and loads of capacitors... mostly due to the one I need always being one I don't have. Either the capacitance is wrong or the voltage or the size.

I know what you mean. I have a ton of caps, but none are the 10uF 250v variety, so yet again I have to order more. I have so many caps I don't know what to do with them and none ever come up when I need something...
As well as the capacitance drop, the top is bulging ever so slightly compared to it's counterpart which measures correctly.

OK, so my little 5" B&W TV has been playing up, with picture issues, so I thought I'd give it a little TLC.
3 caps later and it seems to have a much nicer image:

It also starts straight away instead of needing to warm up. There are some adjustment pots that I need to tweak to get the image size a bit better, but overall I think it looks good and I'm happy.

More and more retro-computing includes CRT repair. :-)

OK then.
This just arrived in the post:

The weird thing is, I didn't order it, and whilst I can pretty much guess what it is, since it fits my Evercade, I have no idea where it came from, or what files it will accept.
Weird. I suppose I need to go and look up EverSD.
EDIT - Turns out it came from
@Icky to whom I'm very grateful :)
