I bought a new Tom-Tom One a couple of years back but it was so slow. Now I just use Google. I find it pretty good at rerouting around traffic.
I had a TomTom but it was old and broke i think. Then I got a new Tomtom and nothing really improved with the navigation from my old one. So then I got a Garmin which is arguably worse. So I'm going back to the Tomtom I think

I think the Tomtom doesn't have a good enough CPU as when going around a roundabout, it hangs then jumps , so I end up missing turns or going in the wrong lanes etc as it doesn't update fast enough.

Sounds more like it doesn't have inertial guidance as well as the satellite. GPS only updates about once a second or so which means that satnavs have to have some other location source to do the movement in between updates. If it's part of the car then it can determine road speed from the wheels etc. and make a guess at the location change and then update the real position after the next GPS broadcast.

Phones can use the cell mast data.

Lovely to see everyone again.

Glad i wasn't last on the shoot-em-up @PhilC !

Good to see all the passion and continuing development going on and also some nice new toys from Jakub (RetroLemon), got a copy of the Atari Fan magazine (translated polish twice yearly magazine) he was gauging interest for him to distribute further translation copies if there is interest, its very good so please grab a copy and show interest directly.

Excellent update on the FGPA developments @Icky I mentioned to @Steve to see if he would talk about the PiStorm but then I couldn't stand up there and present to a large group so very grateful for the talk.

Loved the TF loaded ST @stephen_usher i'm glad someone brought a Falcon and TT too.

@mrbombermillzy super game demo so hope you do get to finish, reminded me of a mix between the Impossible mission and Dark Castle.

I hope we can continue this next year and given some more lead time get some sponsorship (maybe Atari themselves would be interested, can only ask) and more advertising (we only missed Pixel Addict magazine by 2 days before it went to print).

There were many more I spoke to but don't remember your handle so good to meet other passionate Atarians.

And finally I didn't manage to talk to you but many thanks @exxos for the donuts.

ah I didn't get around to talking to many people, the day went to fast, much chaos going on  I think would have been better if everyone had name stickers on them as I kept mixing people up

Well, so far it looks like I've managed to dodge all the photos posted...but @exxos has one with my wife in the corner talking to someone (maybe Piotr? Apologies if that's wrong...) about his computer music.

I'm hoping he posts a link to his compositions on here at some point...

On other news, I've managed to relocate all my swag from the event into the house now & @PhilC will be happy to hear that I've rescued a stand for the NEC monitor so that might be the first item to be pressed into service.

Had a great time & apparently I will be allowed to attend future events (probably still under supervision though)! So, that must count as a good result (for me, at least). Definitely worth the almost 4 hours in the car each way...

When can we start planning the next event? :D

There was a couple chaps in my corner talking about stuff. I'm not sure who they were though. We really needed name stickers to make things easier.

Was talking to your wife about cats mostly. She was mostly  at the thought of you buying more stuff

I'm already thinking protracker hour with some young dancers in Atari shirts on stage.

We was supposed to start chair smacking hour at 6pm. Thought I popped outside to make sure the grass was still growing or something, then when I went back in, the hall was empty.

In relation to Ickys talk, my cam did a reasonable job video vise. I had to hold it at an angle the whole time as the projector was to high up. Should have spent more time setting up.  . The video ended up at a slight angle which sucks. But I've had a play with my video software and can level it up. The first minute may be a bit wonky but overall it's pretty good.

@Badwolf's audio was way better than me picking up the "room audio". So I'll mix that into my video. I may cut to my audio for the room questions near the end.. But I hope the talk will be online near the end of this week.

:bravo:

Will try to get it up on my channel too at some point. Not yet reviewed either video, though.

Anyone have any objection if I drop in a photo or two from this thread, duly attributed?

Ta,
