Thank you, but I still have to test the UltraVIDC and the HD Floppy module, as soon as the FDD reaches me.

What FDD are you waiting on? I thought you could boot to the desktop?

If so you should be able to see the floppy and format a test disk. At least I could with the A5000.

I am waiting for a SONY MPF920-E to have access to HD floppies.

The drive I have now is the original Citizen made DD drive, and it works great. I can format, read and write disks without any problem.

Was quite busy last days and had no much time to fiddle with my Archie.

So far, the Ultravidc seems to work reliably and the A3000 has no issues at all.

I am still waiting for my HD FDD to test the HD module and have the possibility to access 1.44" floppies.

Apart the SONY MPF920-E, I have also ordered a Citizen OSD-FIL and a TEAC FD-235HF (with jumpers) in order to test more drives.

Once everything finished, I have plans for other tweaks and mods...

Looking good. I take it you have UniBoot installed? I see a !Boot file on your hard disk.

I do have a small 128MB Transcend IDE drive in mine, but I don't boot from it as I'm now using the BlueSCSI and have a 1GB drive split in two and boot off one of those.


Now I have the ZIP drive working too, and hopefully I'll soon have the NIC up and running. My main problem is the display, as while it displays the desktop just fine, it's not happy with other resolutions. I do have an NEC multisync that works fine, but that's currently hooked up to my MSTE, though they are next to each other, so switching over works fine. I did try a VGA switcher, but the A5000 doesn't seem to like it.

Hope you can get that HD FDD soon, keep going, it's looking great.

The A5000 is a really great machine and you did a nice repair job.

I plan to install UniBoot later (I already have all the necessary progs needed for my project) but I first want to discover Risc Os, as it is something quite different compared to other OS.

I then would like to split my 2GB CF card into four 512MB partitions and I am looking for a reliable way to do that (I have to try the modified !Hform supplied by CJE).

Yeah, I saved the desktop settings (That was a trial) and get a consistent desktop every boot. I may add another 1GB image to the BlueSCSI, but for now it seems excessive, and does fill the bottom toolbar up, but it's easily done later.

Luckily as I'm using SCSI, the Morley software was very easy to find and allowed me to partition the drive really easily. Just be aware that if moving UniBoot at any point, that you need to tell it which drive to boot from using the *opt command, otherwise you have the problem I did when I restored all the data to the BlueSCSI that !Boot wasn't being read.
