Retrobrighting works quite well on Electron plastics.

That'll be kept as a spares machine, PSU and power board are both good too. Maybe once I get the parts for the ULA replacement I will try and bring the original back from the dead, but for now it gets a replacement mobo.

Mainboard has an interesting Mini SIPP for the RAM :)

It's the wrong time of the year for retrobrightening anyway. You have to wait until at least May and find a warm day. (It's both UV and warmth which activate the peroxide chemistry.)

Yeah, as the Elk is small it might make a good retrobrite project once the weather improves.

Didn't some of the the early STEs have them?

Seems too modern for an Electron. :lol:

Yep some early STEs did have SIPPs, but not that weeny :)

So I decided to take a trip to Boscombe town today with the family to have a look around.

Went into the main precinct and there was a retro game shop with some of OUR type of gear, along with the typical Nintendo/Sony console stuff:


Here's one of the shelves, very well stocked with Electron games!

Also had an Acorn Electron User Guide, along with several C64 games and C64 PRG, Some Amiga Manuals (NOT the PRG, just user guides) and some *ahem* 'blank' Amiga floppies.

Not a bad display for 2022!

Would have done a supermarket sweep of the whole shelf, but they were all priced £4.99-£9.99 and I'm not as flush as @rubber_jonnie :lol: Although I did think of bagging the Elk version of Elite (at £9.99). (Was it close to the beeb one or substantially cut down/slower?)

Anyhow, decided to walk away, with what little cash I still had in my pocket. (I did it! I passed the test!! :lol: )

P.S. That grey, still sealed box is MS DOS v3.xx!

Was it full version with a box and instuctions? If yes then £10 is reasonable.

So, the wallet was safe today, but what about tomorrow????
