One post said I need to enable systemd. Seems that's done in the grub boot menu. Did that. Still didn't work.

So no idea whats going on. I'm not going down the rabbit hole again just to autoload screen brightness. This should have been a standard option and simple to do since day 1 IMHO :roll:

Oh you're using Plasma desktop environment? I think those options are only available on the default MX desktop (XFCE)
Perhaps you need to do something like this for Plasma, ie; add a widget:

But I'm not an expert on Plasma at all, never used it personally.
If you ever have issues on one desktop environment, you can install another. Might be worth using the standard XFCE desktop with MX Linux since that's their main base, ie; 90% of users will default to that, and as such it will get more feedback and features are worked on there first.

The Plasma 5 applet Display Brightness Control solved this issue for me.
I installed it with this command:
plasmapkg2 -u risu.brightness.bar.v1.1.plasmoid
I can now change the display brightness from a KDE Plasma applet in the task bar.

I can't remember why I went for plasma, probably seemed easier and the best choice for me at the time. But if they are not developing it much.. it was kinda pointless choosing it then. I've had the same with desktop themes, I won't touch those as it WILL break the whole OS.
I tried the git you posted.. in the end..

This is why I just give up with software. After screwing with windows for 30 years getting stuff to work right, moving to Linux is like going a huge 30 year step backwards. I wasted enough years of my life the first time around. Plus I can't spent much time on the PC anymore due to my RSI. So rather than trying to reinstall the desktop, which will no doubt break everything I've setup already, I will just have to live with the annoyances I guess.

Claude now on my desktop MX :) Its fixed the annoying save brightness option ! Its currently cloning my windows7 theme over to Linux :) For those who will moan about that, well "FU Kyle" :)
ohhh found minesweeper, died second move.. sounds about right.. :roll:

This is being typed with voice recognition on Linux :D
Was a bit of a faff but I managed to get Claude to build a microphone system icon for me just to click to enable and disable the voice recognition :)
Next to build a command box thing where I can say and it will actually create a rather than putting the text in the text boxes.
Got a lot of bugs to sort out, but the great thing is here, I'm actually building a operating system which doesn't annoy me! :lol: :D
This is one great thing about open source I suppose, because I can just add in the changes that I want to personalise and have.
I have also for the first time opened up my own repository on github and uploaded my dolphin changes there and I hope to upload my theme there as well soon, as that can be made portable where I should be able to just download all the stuff onto my laptop or any other machines or any other machines that people have want to mess with this stuff themselves :)
Right I better go now because Claude is popping up all sorts of boxes all over my screen and keep moving my mouse about by itself !! :lol: :roll:
