From the level for scorching I would very much suspect that the fibreglass substrate is now carbonised and conductive.
As for low light levels in your fibre... it's Winter, not much light at this time of year. It'll be fine in the Summer. ;-)

Like Han Solo, it's encased in carbonite, and I have to agree with you. It can be replaced with an ATX PSU, there is an article on 68KMLA. I have a PicoPSU that should be more than adequate, so I should be able to use that to replace the old scorched heap of junk :)

Yeah, it's pretty carbony for sure.
At least my fibre is fixed, they found a faulty splice that was letting out light. All fixed and the signal up 8db and in normal range again.

Something different today, a Sega Saturn 3d controller (Not really 3d, just analog/digital switchable) and a PCB holder:

The controller works really nicely with Knights into Dreams, it's much easier to play than the joypad.

Had a bit of a shopping spree for some bits and bobs, got a slightly better UV curing light for the workbench and some more heat shrink tubing:

Some more odds and sods on the way to restock, such as flux, and some small tools I've been meaning to pick up for a while now.

Another smol item arrived today:

A little inline USB power meter, seen here reporting how much power my UV lamp from the previous post draws when it's on :)
