So, the MD has been running on Sonic demo mode for a few hours now, and the display is a bit flickery, so I think I'll look to do a recap.

If your going to get a SCART cable then spend a few extra quid and get the one with a 3.5mm phono cable the plugs into the headphone jack.
Then you can get stereo out the MK1 MD.

In the end I have an RCA cable coming with stereo sound from CollNovelties. The RCA output fits better into my AV hookup than SCART at the moment.

I've re-capped the video section of the MD and the video has stopped flickering now, so I'll let it run for an hour or two to be sure it's good, then I'll move onto the rest of the caps, so far all of which I've had in stock, and what's left all do seem to be pretty much the same as what I've replaced so far.

I've also chanced my arm on an SD cart from Ali Express, only £20 odd quid delivered, just takes 2 weeks to come, but I figure it's a good experiment and if it works well other people might be interested.

And bar 2 caps that are in the ass end of nowhere on the board, the recap is done:


I'll probably order some more caps as I used all my spares doing this today, and I will also likely do the 50/60Hz mod, so It'll need to be opened up again anyways.

Definitely brought back memories of when I owned a MegaDrive back in the day, I thought Sonic was fantastic and managed to actually complete the game once.

Well, the composite cable + Stereo for the MegaDrive arrived yesterday, and it works lovely.

I have to say the folks over at CoolNovelties do very good quality cables and I would recommend them to everybody.

They are also doing an RGB switch box for the ST too now so you can hook up mono and colour cables at the same time.

And then 3 days later, the tracking still hasn't updated...
