dml wrote: 15 Jun 2026 20:18 I should have said earlier in my replies - but since you are one of the few so far to have 3 Transputers running - enabling the 'TransputerID' button will mark each rendered tile with the Transputer that was responsible (numbered 0,1,2). Works on tilesize 8x8 or 16x16 only - other sizes are too small to fit the digits on there.

I guess this is the simplest way to see how many are actually involved. It helped me find some bugs where one would no wake up, or would go to sleep in the middle :)
Actually I had already tried this and I was able to see all the CPU numbers on the image 😁

OK, so having talked a lot to AndreSai over at Atari-Forum I now have X running on my ATW800_2 cluster:

There was something wrong with my initial install of Helios it seems so I recopied all the files back over, applied the config files AndreSai provided and voila :)

What to do next with it I wonder?

That reminds me, I need to try @dml 's updated renderer

@dml

I've just installed version 0.32 of XPtr and it's working just fine :)

Geez, at least allow us enough time to find esoteric bugs/crash/burn/blow **** up
before you release a new version...!

:)

You can figure out which ones are quick to render by loading them (without rendering) and look at the cost estimates for different CPU types in the upper-left window. Anything over 100s (at a size of 80x80) on your CPU type is going to be snooze-worthy. There are plenty of quick scenes though. 'Saturday Torus', 'Singularity', 'Maze Flow', 'Butterbrot' I think are all fairly quick cases. Some others could be overnight renders so check the times first :)

Nice! Being able to gauge in advance gives me time to plan ahead.

You know, from no problem, go grab a drink to, I'll check it after
mowing the lawn, or re-watching all of Firefly.

Thanks!

I second that!!!

Must confess Butterbrot looks very cool and does render nice and quickly. Will try to get 0.33 installed later today but the garden needs some attention first.

Garden has priority! :) I also need to do some stuff around here. Old computers are bad for getting things done.

Butterbrot is one of the special scenes with 'clickzoom' (which will default-on for an even smaller subset of those scenes). With the output window topped, you can left-click on an area and it will be zoomed 2x. A right-click will zoom out. There is no limit to the zoom but some scenes will definitely break down at some point :)

Clickzoom is banned/blocked/security-locked on the slower scenes because a mis-click might have users throwing their machine at a wall.
