On the LC III you also want to fix the orientation of this capacitor which was wrong at factory: https://www.downtowndougbrown.com/2024/ ... e-factory/

I've got an LC II which I managed to get an expansion slot CPU upgrade from eBay reasonably cheap.

Also have an LC475 which I ended up needing to replace the CPU due to a couple of pins coming unstuck/corroded I put a full 040 in it instead of the EC040. Sounds like I need to build another BlueSCSI that'll also do WiFi next :D

Thanks for mentioning. I had spotted threads about this but always good to call out on forum for others.

Recap kits for board and PSU ordered.

Removal of everything in this Mac is really neat, no screws all clips and nice sliding of items out.

The PSU is the first item out. A nice slime PSU:

Wow that's one enormous cap in there.

Only the caps on the right are replaced as part of the re-capping kit.

Mother board front and back. I did clean it but it's still looking a bit mucky. Those with a keen eye will notice I have added a heatsink to the CPU and the battery is now new.

Yeah, it's only really the low voltage caps which go in those supplies. At least it's a TDK and not a Sony.

Those are the same caps that I replaced when I did the 475. I have a spare BNC network card for one of those somewhere if it's handy for you?

Oh, that would be useful. I've got a media changer to allow it to connect to 10BaseT and plenty of coax and T pieces (and terminators).

My rescued LCIII could do with being networked.

Update:

Recapped and cleaned the motherboard. Then chipped the clock to 33MHz http://www.applefool.com/clockchipping/lciii.html.

Need to recap the PSU now.

EDIT: Recapped PSU - https://recapamac.com.au/macintosh-lc-power-supply/

Only thing missing is the FPU - waiting on delivery for that item

Here's the card, won't be able to send it for a week or so as I'm away.

No problem. There's absolutely no hurry.

Interesting that it has a space for an RJ45 socket with just some resistors missing otherwise.

P.S. Maybe not... there's probably a line driver chip missing too.
