In my experience there were cases where the classic clips had their use (e.g. pin headers) but yeah, for stuff like Videl or Combel -- invaluable.

I've probed socketed as well as directly soldered PLCC's without trouble with them.

You can pretty much stick them on anything, tiny legs on fine-pitched smd's included, and they generally stay put even if you accidentially bump them a little bit.

I finally purchased one of those PCBITE probes. What can I say. I think that whoever invented this hands free concept deserves a Nobel prize. They are really magic. Invaluable for many applications. I also love that they come with multiple grounding options. Thanks again for bringing this up.
