Damn you're fast! I just soldered the PGA206 on my board and it took me what felt like ages. Whoever knew a 68060 has so many pins?! :D

Probably 206 pins and the 68060 chip is PGA.

A little progress last night…
Since my soldering is pretty much done, I have started with programming the Chips

ATF22 and the PIc went with no hassle at all - my TL866II was able to program these three without problems.

BTW: do we need to set any fuses for the PIc? I remember this from other projects being always an issue (and problem)…

The ROM SIMM went also fine. Well, after some head scratching and disappointments, of course :mrgreen:
I usually use Putty on windows, when it comes to serial connections. So I started with that.
57600 8-N-1 no flow control.
The menu of the programmer appeared right away and I could get the ROM info, erase the ROM and played around.
But Putty does not seem to have a file upload feature, so I needed another tool
Of course, the GitHub is mentioning CoolTerm to be used.
Installed it, got connection to the programmer, but was only able to sent one command (either one, e, i, h, etc) - this one succeeded, and then no reaction anymore. Esp p for programming waited just one or two seconds for the file (too fast to go into the menu and select one)
Tried different configs (baud rates, flow controls, etc.) - no difference
Even tried another tool (TeraTerm) - same situation

Got a bit frustrated (was already midnight)…

Then I did, what i should have done earlier - RTFM :mrgreen:
And in the GitHub it was written: Set „Enter Key Emulation“ to CR (instead of CR+LF)

Et voila - programming succeeded :D

The next (bigger) challenge will be the ATF1508
For some reason I was not willing to spent EUR 100-150 for the ATDH1150 :oops:
I will try to use a DIY devBoard for the ATF, a FT232 based programmer and some Linux Tools
With such a setup I have been successful once with the smaller versions of the ATF150x - lets see…

I am using a FT232H and a shield for a ATF1504 which also provides a JTAG connector
Then using OpenOCD for programming
I was following this guide earlier while programming a ATF1504 and it could be easily adapted to the 1508

Okay….

A Raven start flying - at least a little bit…

First boot was not a real success - no Power LED, no Serial Output
After closer inspection I realized, that I put the DS1818 backwards :roll:

Changed that and gave it another try
Serial,output shows a booting Raven - yeah :D
But the picture looks a bit, well, striped…
Things I did, and some observations:
Changed a few chips (both ATF22, the 68150 (I have one FN40 and two FN33) - no change
Tried several RAM and ROM SIMMs - no change
Tried several OSC - from 25 to 48MHz - the stripes have different width, so this has an effect
BTW: the system only boots, if I have both JP102&104 in the x1 position - in x2 position the system does not boot at all
Tried with 3 different VGA cards (all are ET4000AX) - no change
Keyboard works (can move the mouse pointer with Alt+arrows) but if I move the mouse, the system freezes after 1-2 seconds

Any idea, where to start looking?

@LarryL are you trying with the CPU set to 1x or 2x? I think for the firmware you might have it will need to be 2x and try a 40mhz oscillator at first is a good idea. What CPU are you using?

Isn't this very similar to what @Atarian Computing was seeing in his build? Unfortunately if I understood correctly it just started working after a while, not sure if there was a definitive root cause found. Did you already clean everything carefully after the soldering?

I am trying with 1x clock - I have read lately, that the actual release should support this.
But yes, this is a similar result like @Atarian Computing had
Issue is, that with 2x the Raven will not boot at all.

So I need some checks of soldering around the clock area - and maybe a good cleaning also :)

But anyhow, I am quite pleased that I got that far already :D

BTW: the CPU is supposed to be a rev6 71E41J (and the serial output confirms a rev6)
