I thought that 040 was a subset of 060 and you could turn an 040 socket into an 060 socket with extra pin strips? Not that I am suggesting that you do that. Just that was what was done in the past to Amiga 040 accelerators when turning them into 060s (along with voltage regulators and clock frequency changes)

This is sorta what I was suggesting (although I didn't know that was already being done) - by transplanting pins from another socket, into the inner rows of that black 040 socket (the green sockets don't have the extra holes, so won't support that unfortunately).

Probably doesn't help.. But IIRC the Milan started with a 040 and had a 060 adapter later on. Though I don't think it was popular at the time as Uwe was working on a full 060 motherboard, but lack of interest killed that off apparently. But a conversion from a 040 to 060 must have been possible somehow.

040 sounds interesting since 060 prices are going crazy. Can this adapter be somehow modified @reinauer ?

I understand there are adapters which convert one to the other by managing the signals - but even then it's not a pin-to-pin mapping with different voltages. There are quite a lot more pins on the 060 and I expect they 'do stuff'.

Just FYI, my raven wouldn't run at 64mhz (32mhz oscillator) but does at 80mhz which uses a 40mhz oscillator. So to run an 040 at 25,33 or 40 you'd likely need to adjust the GAL & ATF1508 firmware as well as compensate for the missing 060 pins. You'd be better off getting a cheap LC060 and trying that, which will work at 80mhz as mine did.

Thankfully, right now I'm just trying to reuse one of the decent 040 sockets I already have, to seat the 060.

(but thanks for the info on 32MHz/timing tip - I was wondering about that)

That adapter is for the opposite direction. 060->040

If you go for LC or EC 060 parts they are relatively cheap but I don't know if Raven needs FPU or MMU?

It needs an MMU but not an FPU. As a gor instance, Agranlund had made a full 060 and LC version of Opentyrian and my first 060 that I used to get the Raven up and running on was an LC.
