Re: Copy-Protected Disk (Once it dies, software gone)

Just realised that Atarimania's files are the ones I tried which promted me to buy the original disk because I couldn't get to load it.

It is conceivable that an image runs under emulation but it fails in real hardware. Conceivable, but very unlikely. Probably the problem is something else.Cosmic Puppet wrote: 05 Jan 2025 20:19 Nice! I just tried another source from the net and it crashed in EmuTOS and Bombed in TOS 1.04
So it seems currently no way to back it up for original machines without it being cracked.
Here you go.ijor wrote: 05 Jan 2025 20:42It is conceivable that an image runs under emulation but it fails in real hardware. Conceivable, but very unlikely. Post the SCP you made with your own original disk, and also a SCP image of the floppy you wrote that doesn't work (not the image you downloaded, but an image taken from the floppy disk you wrote).
And please detail the computer you are using (model, TOS version and country, amount of RAM, color or mono, etc).
Thanks, but just in case I wasn't clear, I need two images.
Sorry I think I might have confused the issue.ijor wrote: 05 Jan 2025 21:11Thanks, but just in case I wasn't clear, I need two images.
One image taken from your original disk.
Another image taken from the non working floppy that you wrote using the image from your original disk (hope it makes sense, ask me if it doesn't).
Did you try if it makes a difference booting without the hard disk?
What hardware are you using for reading and writing, a Greaseweazle?
EDIT: Are you using a color or a mono monitor? Or you tried both?
The error message DOES NOT say the disk is not COPY protected. Just that it is not (write) protected. Move the write protect tab to the open position.Cosmic Puppet wrote: 05 Jan 2025 22:02 Sorry I think I might have confused the issue.
All the good copies have worked, just with this message when they're not the original disk:
Hi. I thought the same, but it was the first thing I tried. Just retested to make sure. I assume it's just poorly worded. It means that the files will only work on the disk that has copy protection.ijor wrote: 05 Jan 2025 22:11The error message DOES NOT say the disk is not COPY protected. So, again, please post the second image as I asked earlier. Take the floppy that is issuing this message. Make a new SCP image from that floppy, and post it.Cosmic Puppet wrote: 05 Jan 2025 22:31 Hi.
