Yeah, I understand.

What bothers me more is always the risk of damage during transport.

@HigashiJun I think you got the best model there.
5 1/4" drives so your not rewriting floppies to 3.5" and keeping 68000 for full compatibility, but with that MHz boost for those games that benefit from extra speed.

@Higgy

Yes, the XVI is the model to go for games.

BTW, is your X68000 working great ?

Btw how more powerful models maintain backwards compatibility? I think that latest models had 030? How it looks in practice?

You have to patch games if you have an X68030.

IIRC, not all games have their respective patches.

Patches by pirates or software houses? Was there any piracy scene on x68000?

I got 2x original first models and 1x Expert 2.
They are working great, all kitted out with 10mb ram. Expert 2 has ram+midi expansion. I use PicoPSUs fitted inside the original PSU cases.
I also use BlueSCSI V1's with different firmware for running HD image.
I took an original to a computer show and it was on for +6hrs and ran great.
On the disk drives there are 3 or 4 very small capacitors close together, they seem to leak but apart from that the computers seem pretty bullet proof. On one original the drives won't read disks so I use external Goteks.

Patches by enthusiasts.

Never heard about piracy on X68000s.
