I'm going to jump in on this comment as I've had issues with a few cables in the past....just one more thing to test and isolate.

Hey Ken

I have adjusted your post for 2 reasons, firstly there were 3 solid black images that didn't show anything. Secondly, we recommend that you place your images 'inline' as it makes the mages a bit smaller keeps things tidy.

Don't worry, this is normal for new users who aren't fully familiar with the forum guidelines.

I used 2 different brand new ide ribbon cables.

OK, so I took a look at the image on Best and your image and the jumpers seem to match and the cable orientation looks right. Have you checked the power? It looks like it's using power over the 44 pin IDE cable, but if it's not sufficient then that may be an issue.

It looks like the yellow LED is on solid, but I can't work out what it's for. Should it be on solid?

You can certainly try swapping the jumper positions and see what happens.

Red means it has power, yellow means it detects the computer, green is read/write. Best says that it is set for ST/Falcon. If you change the setting it will not work properly. It is powered by the bus as indicated by the red led. There is no other way to power the card other than the ide connector.

This is one of the pictures that didn't come through. It shows the monitor with the adapter connect. I would have expected to see at least a C drive. All that's on the desktop is floppy A and B.
