It does!! Makes me wonder now if it was a ticking timebomb, but surely Apple wouldn't leave swarf like that, it just doesn't seem like a mistake they'd make.
First one looks like a solder ball, but was between the backlight and keyboard, how it got there god knows.

Well, new keyboard is in and all seems to be working as expected, including the back light!!

Let's hope it's not a premature celebration, I guess I'll find out in the morning.

Yay indeed, as of this morning it's still working fine, so bad keyboard it was.
