I have modded my Lynxes to use Li-Po cells, using the Powerboost from Adafruit. It has a neat feature - you can use the device while charging (that's not a given). I also McWilled the screens, so the battery life is no longer the issue. I never wnt to go back.
There is still an issue of making a latch circuit that would use the original on/off buttons (I'm using a simple switch now), but that's not a high priority for me.
