I think it is because it seems to have a stock Clab clock patch and the audio mods. @gari it would be a 'no brainer' to use the Clab version since it has all the cubase audio mods done for line level etc.

Thanks for your interest! I couldn't determine if it's a C-Lab version though after reading a few threads it looks similar. I always thought C-Lab Falcons were rebadged on the top casing or had a sticker with a serial but never saw one before. Puzzling too is the fact it came with a Steinberg SMP II midi/smpte clock usually for a cubase environment but C-Labs were bundled with Notator if I remember correctly? Haven't used an Atari since 96 when I made techno tracks as a kid lol.

It's possible that C-Lab have been producing new motherboards and putting them in old cases (which seems unlikely, your case has a s/n from 10/94) or that the last batch from atari (09/1994) already had those 700015-003 production numbers, who knows.

@mikro I've come across instances where C-Lab Falcons have been re-cased back into original Falcon cases. I guess this might happen sometimes where studios purchased Falcons / C-Lab Falcons, rack mounted them & then later on put them back in whatever case they find in storage to sell off.

@gari just because it came with a steinberg adapter doesn't mean much, perhaps the previous owner preferred Cubase, simple as that. I'm fairly certain this is a C-Lab motherboard since it has all the standard C-Lab motherboard patches, even the weird cable patch under the motherboard and the cable patch on the SCSI > Ajax controller. I've only ever seen these on C-Lab boards.

Yes the casing is a normal Falcon. The seller mentioned it had been worked on so I guess the C-Labs mods could have been replicated or the casing switched as mentioned below.

Good to know it's probably a C-Lab board. Are there major improvements on a rev D from a rev B that would make it unwise to let it go? The C-Lab looks like a keeper for my use.

@gari all C-Lab mother boards are newer than any Atari motherboard. As C-Lab bought the rights when Atari ceased production. So your Rev B will be newer than your Rev D. As far as I know.

@kohli79's photos is a good example why those PCB s/n shouldn't be taken as gospel. It's a normal (Atari) board with their upgrades. I guess they were recasing / mounting Atari boards in parallel to producing new ones.

What happened to the files required to produce the motherboard?
Know CLAB went out on a whim really.
And the injection molds requires to make cases? Was that all left behind in Taiwan?
