@marbosar77 since you are new to all of this... my advice would be refrain from actually doing anything. I mean sure, buy a gotek, SD2IDE, new RAM, whatever but stuff like clock patch.. .that's a mod for someone who knows what he is doing and why.

Wait for you Falcon, play with it, diagnose its faults (if any) and only then start looking for possible modifications.

Accelerating the FPU alone may, in extreme cases, make your Falcon incompatible with some time-sensitive demos for instance. Same goes for various DSP and/or CPU acceleration mods.

The only reliable way to upgrade your Falcon's "stock speed" is the Nemesis or Phantom and that requires even more complex soldering.

I agree with this. My Falcon doesn't actually need the clock patch at all.

I'd do as little to the machine which requires soldering as possible as they're old and fragile machines.

As for upgrades, if it doesn't just fit onto the CPU upgrade header then I'd not consider it.

I guess @marbosar77 will at least have to replace the RTC chip which must be dead by now if not already replaced.

True. That's the only thing I replaced, using the Exxos one. You need a good desoldering gun and technique to do this due to the thick ground plain.

I never use my desoldering gun (lost somewhere in my closet) but my trusty braid and flux.

Same was for the RTC chip in my Falcon which came off easily, apart one ground pin which required a bit of know-how I must admit.
